DoD Moving To A Single Vendor For Anti-virus/Anti-spyware

The ESSG has voted to make McAfee the only solution provider for Anti-virus/Anti-Spyware (AV/AS), starting in September 2015. This will allow two years to complete all of the necessary transition activities for migrating to one solution. Planning and execution within your organization should begin immediately; if you have not started already.
The Contracting Officer has set no restrictions on disseminating this information across Government elements and is not required to share its decisions regarding the status of the remaining option years on the Symantec solution with the vendor at this time. Symantec should continue to perform in accordance with the requirements they are contractually required to meet.
Who is ESSG?

The ESSG is chartered to improve DoD Enterprise security by directly involving COCOM, the Services and key DoD agencies in oversight, planning, and advocacy. The ESSG provides leadership, policy, identification, validation, and advocacy for developing, acquiring and provisioning Enterprise-wide Computer Network Defense (CND) solutions and implementation of those solutions in consistency with established Department policy.
